Let’s Talk Arteries

Last week I was at the Civic Hospital in Ottawa for the latest in my ongoing pre-transplant workup: A cerebrovascular Doppler examination (or cv-Doppler). This test uses Doppler ultrasound to measure blood flow through blood vessels, to check for clots, decreased bloodflow, or blockages, specifically in the legs. Many kidney patients also have diabetes (a disease that is damaging to blood vessels, among other things), so this is an important diagnostic test before a transplant.

Good news! The bloodflow in my legs is normal. I think I’ll take a walk on this sunny Friday to celebrate.
